Over those 12 years Tracy rose in the ranks, was put in charge of the Gwinnett County Child Protection Unit, where she was assigned all of the child sexual and physical abuse cases, and was ultimately promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief District Attorney.
In 2006, Tracy was hired by DeKalb County to serve as a Magistrate Judge.
